Wednesday nights throughout the summer, Sickies Garage Burgers and Brews offers a family-friendly, weekly motorcycle ride-in, complete with entertainment, contests, and prizes. Last night, May 24 was the first ride-in of 2017. As you can see by the pictures the first event was a success. Sickies has chosen four different fundraising bike runs to sponsor during their Wednesday nights. This year, Bikers for Boobs, Project New Hope, Hailey’s Milk Run and Dough 4 Joe are the events Sickies has chosen to sponsor and highlight.
Each of the four fundraising events have Wednesday nights designated as their own. Dough 4 Joe will be the “sponsored” non-profit event on June 21, July 19 and August 16.
We have the events set up on Facebook, so you can accept and plan to attend.  We want to have everyone attending on the Dough 4 Joe nights to come dressed in your favorite Dough 4 Joe apparel.  Our goal is to see a sea of Dough 4 Joe apparel at Sickies on these nights!  We would love to get a picture of everyone in their Dough 4 Joe apparel from the stage each night we are at Sickies!
If for some unexplainable reason, you are not able to make it to our Dough 4 Joe event in July, this is your opportunity to show your support to Dough 4 Joe. Join us at Sickies on 6/21, 7/19 and 8/16!
If you are one of the awesome attendees that has already guaranteed your time off and will be at Dough 4 Joe year…we really want you to join us at Sickies on 6/21, 7/19 and 8/16!

Here are the dates of all the sponsored events be sure to attend and support these great events:

Bikers for Boobs –June 3
Project New Hope –June 17
Hailey’s Milk Run –June 10
Dough 4 Joe – July 20-23

See you there!

Where Does The Time Go?

So much time has gone by since I last wrote a blog, for this I am sorry. It has been such a busy fun filled summer, the time just flew by.

Dough 4 Joe’s 10th Annual Fun Run was held July 24 & 25, 2015. This year we had campers pulling into the campground as early as Wednesday, July 22, everyone wanted to be sure they got their perfect camping spot for the event! We had over 10 vendors, 600 participants and 200 camper’s thank you to everyone who sponsored, volunteered, attended, camped, played in the bands and donated to the success of this year’s event! There are many beautiful pictures on our Facebook page from the event, if you are not Facebook friends with Dough 4 Joe, consider adding us and check out the pictures -
https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/dough4joe/

In August and September friends and family of Dough 4 Joe along with many of our Board members visited each recipient and shared the love from the successful 2015 event. This year we were able to raise just short of $30,000 to give to our recipients. Without each of you, we would not be able to change the lives of others in need, for this we are grateful, without people like you Dough 4 Joe would not exist.

The Dough 4 Joe Board is already busily working to make Dough 4 Joe’s 2016 Fun Run even better! Stay tuned for updates and check us out on Facebook!

Dough 4 Joe’s 10 year celebration on July 24 & 25, 2015 is quickly approaching. The Dough 4 Joe Board realized there are lots of projects to do and little time to get them done. This year we want to complete a few different projects before the event:

(PHOTO EXAMPLES BELOW)
1. Make “saw horse” style bars
2. Stain the existing picnic tables
3. Put a new roof on the existing stage
4. Make some repairs to the outhouses
5. Brand the kick stand plates
6. Stain and ribbon the kickstand plates
7. Fix the stage stairs
8. Cut the tops off the barrels for garbages & games

As you can see, we need lots of assistance. If you are willing to put some time in helping Dough 4 Joe prepare for the biggest Dough 4 Joe event to date, please join us for our Dough 4 Joe Volunteer meeting on June 5 at 7p at our event site - 21756 County Highway 22 Fergus Falls, MN 56537. We would love to meet you, exchange names and phone numbers and coordinate dates that we can begin the large task of completing things on this list. We are looking for evening and weekend assistance to complete these projects in a timely manner. If you are interested, please consider joining us for the volunteer meeting.  If you cannot attend but wish to volunteer your time, please e-mail our volunteer coordinator Rachel Anderson at:  [email protected] and she will get you in contact with one of the project managers to assist with one of the projects above. Bring your work gloves, and any tools that will help complete the projects quickly.

Even for a windy spring day the Freedom First Riders Bike show was a huge success. Dough 4 Joe had a booth there again this year and was able to reconnect with many longtime Dough 4 Joe friends and make new ones we hope will attend Dough 4 Joe’s 10th Annual Fun Run. Every year the Dough 4 Joe booth gets a little fancier, this year we had many trinkets at our booth to hand out to families as they visited. We also had a Remembrance Sign and a video slide show of past events. Many visitors shared memories of past Dough 4 Joe events and watched for pictures of themselves in the video. Thank you to Freedom First Riders for putting on such a first rate bike show. It was well attended and once again, we were able to make new friends and get the word out about our event!

Polar Plunge 2015 was a SPLASH!

Ice Hole Bar held their Second Annual Polar Plunge on Lake Lida right after the Pelican Rapids Jaycees Annual Fishing Derby. This year the Jaycees Derby booth was right next to the plunge so there was an even larger crowd gathered to watch the participants.  The weather was a lot warmer than it was last year and everyone was ready for the big SPLASH!

The brave participants were Brian, Ben, Erick, Dillan, Jesse, Chris, Brandon, Ross, Iver, Josh, Darrin; thanks guys for doing an exceptional job pleasing the crowd! A couple of them even jumped in the water twice!

Thanks to Ice Hole Bar for putting together such a wonderful event and for donating some of the proceeds to Dough 4 Joe.

Thank you to everyone there that kept the participants safe:

Ringdahl Ambulance and Midwest Towing and Water Rescue.

It was a heartwarming event, we had lots of visitors at our booth. Even Dawson and his family stopped by to support the event and watch the jumpers.

12-year-old donates $500 to Dough 4 Joe

When presented with the opportunity to donate $500 to a charity of his choice, 12-year-old Dominick Hanson had no problem choosing where the money would go.

Dough 4 Joe is a charity that helps families in times of need, raising funds through donations and an annual motorcycle run at the end of July. The Hanson family has been involved in the event for many years, with Dominick’s father, Cameron, serving on the board, and his mother, Tiffany, as the vendor coordinator. The opportunity came through Dominick’s Confirmation class at Augustana Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, by a grant from the Beverly and Lloyd Paulson Foundation. Each child in the class got to select a charity to donate to.

The check was donated to Dough 4 Joe in late December.

“Tiffany called and said, “You wouldn’t believe what Dominick is doing!”” said Stan Johnson, the director and founder of Dough 4 Joe, adding that the charity tries to “help families like people did for us. It’s just giving back to the community.”

Dough 4 Joe Foils the Christmas Grinch

To give you some background on the incident here is a portion of the article found on KVLY:

On December 4, 2014 A Christmas grinch stole 19 Christmas trees at $35 bucks a piece. The total value comes to $665 dollars and the victims are the members of Fergus Falls Cub Scout Troop 312.

Scout leaders say this is the first time they have had anything like this happen in 30 years.

"It is hard to believe that anyone would want to steal Christmas trees as a fundraiser from the cub scouts, but I mean, I guess there is people out there that don't care," said Assistant Cub Scout Master Jason Marquette.

Dough 4 Joe heard about the loss of the trees and decided to assist their community once again by donating to the Boy Scout Troop 312. On December 5 a few Dough 4 Joe members stopped by the tree lot and presented a check to the troop to help with their fund raising efforts.

Just one more way Dough 4 Joe steps in during a time of crisis and assists those in need.

Happy Holidays everyone!

All Dough 4 Joe Family Members Share The Love!

8/30/2014

Finally, the day arrived for the sponsored recipients of Dough 4 Joe 2014 Fun Run to reap some rewards. On August 30 & 31, the Dough 4 Joe family gathered together to deliver checks to the families sponsored this year. It was a wonderful weekend for a ride, and an overwhelming number of Dough 4 Joe family members gathered for the biggest heartfelt ride of the year.  With the sun at our backs and the wind in our faces, we rode to the first of our 8 recipients. The rumble of bikes echoed through the town, and out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, the families came out to see what was the matter.  Ok, sorry, but I just couldn’t resist a little “Night Before Christmas” reference there; after all, we were Dough 4 Joe Santa’s that day! It took us two days to ride to all of the recipients homes, but it was so heartwarming to hear from the families how blessed they feel to have a group of strangers become family! The two days were amazing and thanks to all the committee members, sponsors, vendors, donors, attendees, and local community members we were able to make a different in the lives of these 8 families! Thank you for all your support! Let’s work towards making our 10th annual run in 2015 the biggest and best it has ever been!  If you are interested in becoming more involved with Dough 4 Joe, please check out our website and contact a board member, the satisfaction and heartfelt feelings you get from helping others just can’t be topped! As always keep the Dough 4 Joe family in your thoughts and prayers as they continue to work towards the greater good of others.

Dough 4 Joe 9th Annual Event is Here and Gone!

How many times did you say “I can’t wait for the end of July to attend Dough 4 Joe!” Well, for those of you that attended, we hope it was everything you thought it would be and more!

This year we were at our new location, and it was absolutely AWESOME there is just no other way to put it! Dough 4 Joe has officially outgrown the side streets and city park of Elizabeth, MN. Thank you Elizabeth for hosting us all those years, we will never forget our roots, but the Viking Challenge/Ringdahl location was more than we could have ever imagined.

This year, we were able to hold our first ever 2 day event we opened the gates at 12n on Friday, July 25 and hosted 3 bands on Friday and 4 bands on Saturday. There was more than enough room for camping, and it was proven by the overwhelming number of campers and tents that pulled in for the weekends festivities! We had over 450 registered riders for the fun run, and over 50 campers/tents. Many attendees said it was their first time attending and they were so impressed; they will be back with their campers next year.  Even those multiple year veterans were impressed.  We heard nothing but overwhelmingly good comments and we were once again successful in raising funds for our recipients.

Thanks to everyone that volunteered, donated, sponsored, and attended this year’s event. We hope to see you all back for our10th annual run in 2015 – be sure to bring your friends! Check out the Dough 4 Joe 2014 pictures on our website!
